Why This Work Matters

Our partnership with Kardiozentrum expands access to congenital heart disease screening in underserved, high-altitude regions where early diagnosis is often difficult. CHD is the most common birth defect worldwide, yet in Bolivia, many children are diagnosed only after symptoms become severe because of limited equipment and a shortage of specialists.

One Heart Health helps bridge this gap by equipping local healthcare workers with the One Heart App and digital stethoscopes, making early CHD screening possible in more settings. Providers can capture heart sounds, review results, and connect with remote cardiology expertise to bring life-saving screening closer to the children who need it most.

Looking Ahead

Over the next 12 months, One Heart Health and its partners in Bolivia are on track to screen more than 5,000 children for congenital heart disease. Through this program, we expect to identify children with previously undiagnosed heart defects and connect them to life-saving follow-up care and intervention.

We will also train 10 additional local doctors to use the One Heart App and digital stethoscopes, helping expand a sustainable screening network across Bolivia and building long-term local diagnostic capacity.
