Our Approach
How One Heart Health Expands Early CHD Detection
We combine technology, frontline screening, and research to bring earlier congenital heart disease detection to children in low-resource settings.
Technology Solutions
The One Heart App, paired with a digital stethoscope, is a portable, affordable, and scalable solution for recording children’s heart sounds and sharing them remotely with cardiologists for expert review. We continuously improve the app’s usability and performance, including advancing our algorithm to automatically detect abnormal heart murmurs, so the technology remains useful for patients and effective for screening partners.
Heart Screenings
More than 27,000 children have received heart screenings using the One Heart App. We are committed to training and supporting more healthcare workers so that more children can be reached. One Heart Health has partnered with institutions across Bolivia, China, India, Mongolia, Nigeria, and Uganda to build and scale CHD screening capabilities by integrating the One Heart App into their screening programs and enabling remote consultation for children in rural and low-resource areas.
Proven Research
The One Heart App is a telemedicine solution designed for both clinical settings and field use. Research with international partners, including West Virginia University, Kardiozentrum in Bolivia, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria, and First Maternity Hospital in Mongolia, is helping demonstrate that pediatric cardiologists can detect heart murmurs remotely with the One Heart App as accurately as they can during in-person auscultation.
Current Funding Priorities
Your support helps One Heart Health expand access to early congenital heart disease detection where it is needed most.
Heart Screenings
The lack of dependable congenital heart disease screening services in rural areas can create heavy financial strain for families and public health systems, as patients often need to travel long distances to reach a pediatric cardiologist.
When a rural healthcare worker suspects an abnormal murmur, a false positive can place unnecessary costs on both the family and the healthcare system. Even more serious, a false negative can mean a child with CHD is missed entirely. The One Heart App helps close this gap by allowing healthcare workers to record heart sounds and send them to pediatric cardiologists for expert review.
This can reduce unnecessary referrals, lower costs, and most importantly, save lives through earlier diagnosis. Each donation helps bring cardiology expertise into low-resource settings in seconds.
Your contributions support partners in Bolivia, India, Mongolia, Nigeria, and Uganda as they build remote CHD screening programs through digital stethoscopes, the One Heart App, training, and implementation support.

Technology Solutions
We continue to improve the One Heart App by incorporating cutting-edge research and user feedback from our screening partners. In 2024, our development team completed the first public release of the One Heart App, now available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
One Heart Health has developed an artificial intelligence algorithm to support real-time automatic heart murmur detection through the Chao Heart Alert. Instead of waiting hours or even days for a remote cardiologist to review heart sounds, users can receive immediate feedback when the app detects either healthy heart sounds or a concerning murmur.
With congenital heart disease, every day matters. Your support helps us provide the updated app and algorithm to partners around the world as quickly as possible, creating a major leap in speed, efficiency, and scalability for pediatric heart screening.
