Fall 2018 Update

Happy Fall, Everyone!

We have made great progress this Fall that we’re excited to share with you in this update. Wishing everyone a warm, happy Holiday season ahead.

Funding Support

This September,  our board member Ed Tian and his wife Karen Liu hosted a fundraiser luncheon in San Diego with over 50 guests in attendance, joined by Dr. Lee Pyles and Kathleen Jiang from One Heart Health. After spending the afternoon learning about the organization, sharing stories over lunch, and getting energized over a round of trivia, our guests raised over $25,000 in support of One Heart Health’s Congenital Heart Disease screening programs and technology!

We want to thank you for your generous support and donations. These funds allow us to continue expanding our impact through One Heart App development and CHD screening programs. Thank you, Ed and Karen for hosting the event.

Technology Development

After the successful release of the One Heart App among our partner sites in March 2018, we have grown our software development team with the addition of Luke Goetzke and Bryce Carr, both will volunteer for the One Heart App development. Based on feedback from doctors using the app in China, we will improve the communication between local doctors and heart specialists to obtain timely remote consultation in our next release. We will continue to make the app easier to use for doctors to incorporate CHD screening during regular physical exams for newborn and pre-school aged children.

Congenital Heart Disease Screening

Our partnership with the Kunming Medical University 1st Affiliated Hospital Cardiology continued to make progress in providing high-quality CHD screening, diagnosis and treatment for children in rural Yunnan. The team of KMU cardiologists completed two week-long screening programs in LvChun county of Yunnan this year. They screened 24,931 pre-school and school aged children for CHD. Among these children, 51 received echo-confirmed CHD diagnosis, and 25 have received life-saving treatment. The KMU cardiology team used the One Heart App during the screening program and continue to give us feedback for future improvement.

Website Update

Lastly, we are proud to introduce our new website! This is our window to share the vision and mission of One Heart Health to promote and improve CHD screening in low resource parts of the world. Thank you, Dandi, for working with web designers at DKS Systems to give our website a vibrant new look, ready for the holiday season.

We want to thank you again for your generous support and donation in the past. With your support, we are committed to give Every Child Born with Heart Disease Gets a Chance to Live a Healthy Life.
