Stay Home, Stay Safe
Not a Problem for One Heart Health Technology Team
-March 2020-
While many nonprofits and businesses are shuttering their offices or scrambling to make their operations virtual in response to COVID-19, One Heart Health’s work remains unchanged. The organization has always relied heavily on home office labor and virtual meetings to accomplish its goals. Even quarterly Board meetings are held virtually.
As One Heart Health Executive Director Quan Ni explained, “Social distancing is really not a handicap for our work. One Heart Health’s team of volunteer scientists and doctors are stationed all over the world. Since 2017, these team members have spent literally hundreds of hours in their home offices, outside of work, developing new technologies to help kids in need of diagnostic solutions for heart defects. Our volunteers connect virtually and work virtually. This is how we are able to accomplish so much for so little.”
However, one thing One Heart Health had not done before is to have a social event virtually. That changed on March 31st when Quan Ni organized the first volunteer One Heart Health Zoom Happy Hour with team member Dandi Zhu calling in from the East Coast, and the rest of the team – Quan Ni, Karen Baumgaertner, Luke Goetzke and Matheus Araújo – connecting from the Twin Cities in Minnesota.
